Beginning in 1994 with a 7 barrel converted barrel system, the brewery set and accomplished the goal of providing a unique selection of traditional ales and lagers.
"Quickly we outgrew that system and today we operate a 25-barrel Price Schonstrom brew house," the brewery writes on their website.
In 1997, OHB began the renovation of an 1880 Historic Landmark building in downtown Hickory, which now houses their brewing facilities.
The brewery was awarded a gold medal for its Irish Walker Ale and a silver medal for The Event Horizon Strong Stout at the 2016 Great American Beer Festival.
"Great beer is the result of meticulous attention to detail throughout the brewing process," writes Olde Hickory Brewery, as they describe the life of their beer, flowing as fresh water from the granite slopes of the Blue Ridge and culminate in small batches less than 800 gallons each. "Our beers are and have always been, brewed using only select grains, robust hops and cultured yeast, with no additives or preservatives."
